Overview

Immucor is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our Quality Laboratory team. The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory testing (including, but not limited to potency, specificity, reactivity and hemagglutination assays) and chemical evaluations (including, but not limited to protein, absorbance, chloride, osmolality, and pH) of Immucor products according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) within defined timeframes.

2nd Shift Medical Technologist II – Quality Laboratory

Responsibilities

As a Medical Technologist, you will perform all assigned tasks following applicable laboratory SOPs, OSHA regulations and cGMP regulations (i.e. Blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards). You will perform inventory control tasks of in-process components or products. You will also be responsible for performing equipment maintenance and/or calibration and temperature monitoring in a timely manner according to applicable procedures.

Schedule is Monday – Friday 1:00 - 9:30pm

Additional Medical Technologist responsibilities include:

  • Monitors supply inventory and identifies any products required

  • Inspects in-coming components for compliance with company specifications.

  • Prepares chemical solutions, reagents, calibrators and/or standards according to laboratory procedures, including liquid and dry measurements, labeling.

  • Operates, cleans and maintains department equipment according to department protocols including computers, printers, incubators, centrifuges, mechanical shakers, washing devices, pH meter, analytical balance, spectrophotometer, etc.

  • Accurately calculates amount of in-process components or products received, used, or rejected.

  • Performs required statistical analysis of department’s processes.

  • Understands FDA and ISO standards applicable to the department and consequences of nonconformance.

  • Meets achievement levels established for competency evaluations.

  • Follows applicable company procedures for the documentation of training of new employees.

  • Reports out-of-specification results and deviations to the department supervisor and/or manager.

  • Assists with investigations, root cause analyses and reports for out-of-specification results and deviations.

2nd Shift Medical Technologist II – Quality Laboratory

Qualifications

We are looking for a Medical Technologist with at least 1-3+ years’ experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. We are looking for a professional, self-motivated individual with exceptional communication and strong analytical skills. Schedule is Monday – Friday 1:00 - 9:30pm

Additional Medical Technologist requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Life Sciences or other sciences or technical field

  • MT (ASCP) required, MT(AMT) certification designation

  • Strong mathematical, Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
